Shadow Movement Project 

Shadow Movement Project (SMP) is an intensive project for young dancers who are interested in developing their choreographic skills. Participants collaborate with Next Door Dance professionals in a non-heirarchical environment. Over the course of a week a dance performance or film is created. In the past we have collaborated with some really exciting practitioners, including sound artists, film makers and orchestras! 

Our most recent SMP 9, Together || Apart was made in collaboration with a film artist Mark Nelson and created remotely during lockdown, August 2020.  Next Door Dance and the young performers created the movement over 3 days via Zoom which was then filmed individually in the studio and edited together to make one continuous solo.

Next Door Dance would like to give a special thanks to all at Inspire Youth Arts but in particular Jon Bevan for his continuous support of Next Door Dance, especially with the Together || Apart project, made during the challenging times of COVID-19.
